An independent charity for people with learning disabilities

Helping people with learning disabilities speak up on climate

As a result of our recent People’s Parliament report on the Environment, we were asked to write a blog. We wrote about how we involved people with learning disabilities in what can be a difficult subject to understand.

Lewisham Council’s Climate Resilience manager put us in touch with environmental charity Ashden. This is what they say about their aims:

Ashden’s mission is to accelerate transformative climate solutions and build a more just world. Our awards, events, networks and analysis support climate innovation in the UK and developing countries around the world.

They asked us to write about the work we did to make sure the voices of people with learning disabilities was heard on environmental issues. They felt that other Councils and groups could learn from the work we did in Lewisham. We were happy to write about our work as we are proud to talk about big subjects with people with learning disabilities.
