53 people with learning disabilities came to share their views.
Dr Claire Bates from Supported Loving came to talk about the Sexuality and Relationships Rights charter, and Megan and Ena from Turning Point spoke to us about sexual health.
We ran 3 workshops
- Sexual health
- Healthy relationships
- Relationships in the media
Read the report to find out what people had to say in full, but here are some highlights!
- People with learning disabilities would like more privacy in their home to be with their partner or by themselves
- People would like more information about sexual health, and support to make their own decisions about contraception
- People would like more support to have healthy relationships, stay safe from abuse and cope with break-ups
- People said they would like more positive, normal and happy relationships in the media between people with learning disabilities
Our next People’s Parliament will be on the 6th March, 10.30 – 3.00 at the Catford Civic Suite, where we will talk about Extremism and Hate. Open to all people with learning disabilities living in Lewisham borough. Contact ellie@lsup.org.uk for more information.
